Fact Sheet

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

CourtServe 2000 – is a customised listing service delivering all the court lists across the full spectrum of the legal profession. It provides all the lists a subscriber needs from the Royal Courts of Justice, the Crown Courts, increasing numbers of County Courts and all 25 Employment Tribunals. CourtServe 2000 tracks and alerts users to those cases which have been recorded in it or in special case diary software such as Meridian or similar products that interface with the service.  The service is used by most leading criminal chambers, increasing numbers of solicitors and sole practitioners, innovative legal firms, customs and excise and parts of the police force.

What it does:

The CourtServe 2000 icon on the PC desktop is the entry point to sophisticated web-enabled software, an integral part of the CourtServe 2000 service.  Users can automatically track all cases scheduled for hearings at the Royal Courts of Justice, Crown Courts, County Courts around England and Wales (now rolling out progressively) and  25 Employment Tribunals - (EW&S).  CourtServe 2000 alerts users to relevant cases in each list subscribed for.  The service updates continuously with digital lists received via the internet moments after they are published by the Court Service (an executive agency of the Department for Constitutional Affairs).  It also delivers the Judiciary Service, a weekly diary of court vacancies and other information for deputy judges in the London region.  Access to this e-mailed service is restricted to individual recorders approved by the London Group Managers Office.

How it works:

CourtServe 2000 enables users to select lists from all existing Crown court groups, the full RCJ range an expanding number of County Courts and now also 25 Employment Tribunals - (EW&S).  A user can drill down through the lists published on a particular day by all the courts shown in the application window.  Alternatively a user can choose a warned, draft, daily courtroom, fixed, firm, running or final list from among those found in the main menu window.  The service delivers other court-related information, supplies our Headline Express daily legal briefing, and as an optional extra provides access to the Hallmark Directory of vital legal community contacts.

Why CourtServe 2000?:

It is a service that saves practitioners time and money.  It helps users in criminal sets for example, track cases significantly faster during the critical mid-afternoon rush.  It allows barristers to know instantly from their laptops, where their cases are being heard and informs solicitors of last-minute county court hearing changes.  Solicitors, sole practitioners and legal firms who use it, can also benefit from case alerts and tracking efficiency by loading case entries directly into the application so that it  acts as their personal case diary.  Court lists in CourtServe 2000 are delivered electronically, fully indexed, formatted (RCJ lists only) for printing and viewable in a CourtServe 2000 window which works like a simple word processor.

Other CourtServe 2000 features include bulletins of last minute advisories from the courts, and free access to our unique Court List Archives, where all lists published since 1996 can be consulted.
